I6-Kid I'm a fan of the 90s-era stock 15" Alcoas with 33s or smaller, but any size larger looks better with a modern 17" rim, but still a similar design aluminum

deathside23 I've always been partial to a 17" rim with 35" tires, just enough wheel to tire ratio to look beefy and not getting into the situation where you look like you're driving on some floaties

joedirt216 So, it's been a pain trying to move my Bronco around, when I have to air up the tires everyday, of course they were shot from sitting 18 years, so I've been looking for some USED tires to get me through until I decide what wheels and size of tire I want. I found a full set at a local tire shop for $120. mounted and balanced for all four!! Seems like a really good deal to me, the are 32 x 11.50-15's Yokohama Geolandar. The tires are like new and now I can move her around without the pain!!. So, I think they look too small for the lift that is on the Bronco, and eventually I will go up in size, so, any suggestions on wheel and tire size anybody?? Do you think 35's with 15" wheels?? or 37's with 17" wheels?? Any suggestions would be great, I have been googling images of the Broncos, but just looking for suggestions? Do you like the wheels that are on her now?? Thanks guys!! Cheers

joedirt216 Here is the 65 Impala, before, during and after, not my color choice, but to each their own.

joedirt216 Hi Fellas, I have an update on some projects, and a few photos to share. So I took some vacation time over the fourth and finally got the 65' Impala painted , so that gave me a little time to mess with the 78' Bronco. So I pulled the valve covers, and plugs, and dumped in some Marvel Mystery Oil for some pre-lubrication, and let it sit for a couple days. Drained and flushed the fuel tank, (the gas was like paint thinner) put a small amount of fresh fuel in and used a suction gun to pull it through the fuel lines to clean them up, then turned her over to check the fuel pump, and it was shot. I had ordered a new 2150 carb back in June and bought a new fuel pump, fuel filter, fuel line and hoses etc.. installed the new fuel pump, and carb, but before wasting any new fuel, I just dumped a little gas down the carb, turned her over and DANG!! She fired right up!!! So I hooked up the new fuel line, put some tap water in the radiator and let her run for a few minutes, just to see if there were any major leaks, knocks or things to make me concerned. Well, it actually runs pretty dang good for not having any of the vacuum hoses hooked up and 20 year old plugs, wires etc....So I am totally JACKED!!! So now I will replace all the hoses, plugs, a lot of the wiring, and just all the normal stuff. I just wanted to share my good fortune with you all and say thanks for all the support, and Miesk5 all that info you posted is really going to help trouble shoot where all the vac hoses, and wiring goes. especially since all of the emission stuff has been removed. Anyway thanks again fellas and CHEERS!!!

joedirt216 Thanks DCA 455, and 5.0 Bronco guy, Kammots, I've been driving by this one for years, and finally asked the guy what he was doing with, he also works with me and it was his son in laws, he said he would sell it and that was an exciting day for me!! It was this last winter and like two feet of snow, so I couldn't wait for the spring so I could bring her home.
I love my 1990 Eddie Bauer, but I've always wanted a 78-79, didn't care if it was a square or round eye, I always thought the 79' XLT was a more sought after rig?? but I'm sure glad I got this one!! Cheers

kammots Congrats, that will be such a fun project and a true classic. /jealous

joedirt216 Thanks guys, I can't wait to get going on this one, I have three vehicles to finish, 1965 Super Sport Impala a huge project with a ton of rust and panel replacement, finally got all the body work done and now it's in primer!!! a 1968 Corvette, 427 big block 4 speed, just have to paint it, and a 1972 Chevy truck, it's in real good shape, just needs a little body work and some paint. THEN the Bronco...
Anyway, I have already picked out the color for the Bronco, House of Kolor Root Beer Kandy!! It's absolutely beautiful, and has BEER in the name, and should fit the Bronco really well. Cheers!!

joedirt216 Thanks Swamp/Justright, I'll try to get the casting numbers off the block on the near future, It would be nice to know what motor it is, I'm also betting it's the 351M.
05-15-2019 10:34 PM
Swamp Can't tell for sure, but the VIN says it came with a 351m originally. Check the rocker cover sticker. If it's legible it will tell you what it is. Looks pretty original to me so I'd bet it's the 351M. That Bronco is super clean! Nice score.

JustRight I think the round eye Broncos are the best looking of all. Can't find one around here that's not rusted out. Good find.
