Haven't been here in a while. Most of you probably don't remember me.

But anyhow...

Looking at doing a SAS soon. Nothing fancy at all.

Parts acquired:
1996 Ford F150 single cab shortbed, 4.9L, zf5, bw1356/np205, 8.8" rear, d44ttb front 3.55 gears, 6" lift
1978 dana 44, radius arms, radius arm brackets, coil cups and coil buckets.
78-79 6" superlift coils
duff track bar bracket
wildhorse adjustable track bar
7 degree bushings
38.5" TSL SX's
Should be a quick and easy SAS to be mostly finished in 2 days. Sometime after the fact, I will do an 8-lug swap on the front. Rear needs a sterling swapped in before I build a driveshaft. Don't want to do it twice.

Should have some pics up by tomorrow. Nothing special, will just be pictures of all the parts ready to go in, as I get them cleaned up and painted.

TTB is out. 79 coil buckets are in. Duff track bar bracket is it. Decided to order some duff arms, HD coil cups, and some 5" superflex coils. Hopefully that will all be here by thursday or friday. Then I can get the truck back on 4 wheels.

5" deaver superflex coils, James Duff radius arms, and some 4 degree radius arm bushings should be here friday, by the end of the day, according to UPS tracking numbers. Ready for the install this weekend.

I don't get out on the site much anymore, and I don't think much about the parts and pieces any longer, but it used to be that Deaver made a 4" and 6" superflex coil. The 5" coils they made had a different bottom made for the TTB, are those the ones you got?

The truck and parts look awesome :thumbup:thumbup You made me go look at CL to see if I could find a nice F150 shortbed. Been sort of looking for a Bronco for my youngest son but loving your F150. Keep the progress and pictures coming. :popc1:

Do it! Short beds are legit. But remember, you can't win FOTM with a pickup...

According to whats for sale on JBG, they are now 5" and 7", instead of 4" and 6". Which works out perfect for what I wanted, because the 6" springs would have put me just slightly too tall. :thumbup

Don't limit yourself to 4x4s. They are easy to convert and to make it decent you are swapping most of those parts anyhow.

Very good thought. I have thought about that with other older trucks but not one of these. Makes sense though. I have a couple extra C6/ NP205 combos laying around plus a couple of Ford 9" and 78/79 Bronco Dana 44's around as well. You have my wheels turning ;) Probably much less expensive and easier to find a nice 2WD. I have found alot of junk around where I live now. The 4x4's seem beat to death or they think it is worth a million bucks if it's decent.

My first one was a converted 95 2wd to 4x4. The only extra step was a trans and tcase swap. Which wasn't bad because I was installing a zf5 anyhow.

Yep, seems like the zf5 would make for any easier swap. Not sure if I would want a C6 due to lack of OD anyway. What engine did you have in the 95, 351W?

I am a huge fan of the 300. Really solid reliable engine.

That's good to know, because all along if you just put the springs in without any change you really were more like 5" and 7" with their springs.

I have the now 7" versions, but am truly 6" due to moving my coil tower up 1" as well as having a heavy front (5.8/E4OD/Winch).

Edit: See PICS = Interest by people, the pic whores get all the glory. If you're really into your truck though it's fun anyway to have a supermotors site to put all your pics and info. not only to share but I often have to go back and revisit things to remember all the junk I've done.

Yeah. I'm not a very good pic whore. I'm trying to do better though. Suspension work is basically done. Its sitting on 4 tires. :rockon Just have some little stuff to take care of next weekend, primarily steering. Then it will get loaded up onto the trailer, and stuck in a field until I find the rest of the parts I need. 8 lug outers for the front, gotta dig up my extended brakelines, wherever they are... my shackle flip and extended shackle for the rear, my sterling 10.25", a 1350 driveshaft for the front, and a 1410 driveshaft for the rear. oh! and i'll have to get 1350 yokes for the front of the np205 and for the d44.

After all that.... it'll be ready to wheel, but far from finished. Still gotta address cable shifters, do some roll cage work, etc.


Anyhow... pictures incoming.
