Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
So after doing some digging and getting under my bronco today I realized I have either an AODE or 4R70W transmission hooked up to my 302. The biggest thing running through my head right now is that I don't know what other modifications were made to the truck now. I was under the assumption (we...

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
Thanks for the info! Once again the fountain of information form Miesk. I will try running down some of these leads today and see if I can find anything. I did replace one of the connectors with the alternator when I replaced it. I soldered the lines together and used some heat shrink on them...

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
Good afternoon Everyone! I have a 1990 Bronco XLT with a 5.0 for the engine. One thing that has been a constant issue with it is the battery drains extremely fast. I installed a new battery when I got it and just recently did a new alternator. I have an issue with the battery running low if I...

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
Little tidbit, for those with older Broncos that have the peg windshield wiper arms, they can be replaced with the j-hook wiper arms from the later models to allow for an "easier" and imo more secure hold on the wiper. I bought a set off Amazon I believe and had them replaced in 20 minutes or so.

  8. 1990 Wiring Harness

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
Are you talking engine bay or interior? As far as I've found from my searches there aren't really any interior harnesses for the 1990 we bought the "red headed step child" of the Broncos. The 89-92 model years where a brief transition period for the vehicles. The 302 was switched to fuel...
  9. 1996 5.0 swap.

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
I have looked at a crate engine before but right now its a $$ deal. I would do a crate if I had the money but doing a refresh on the other engine is the plan for now. I plan on doing a crate later down the line, but that is much later. The biggest issue as of right now is finding a local machine...
  10. 1996 5.0 swap.

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
For the crankshaft from the engine it's got groves in at least all of the main bearing journals and I think a few of the rod journals so it would definitely need refinished. As for the tourque converter I hear almost like a "rubbing" sound when I've got the truck in gear and have the break in...

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
Lots of great information! Thank you! The crank has not been inspected by a shop but there are groves in most if not all of the bearing journals that are scored. You can feel the scoring with just your finger, you don't even need your nail to feel it.

The budget is where I am stuck at right now, I want to take all things into consideration when I form the final budget and I completely agree, I've done that with a few projects on this truck already. My end goal is to have this truck for a very long time. Which I know is going to correlate to a...

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
From what I remember of doing mine I removed the brackets off of the old stereo and attached them to the new head unit. This allows you to use the factory mounting points on the dash. My dash is brittle because of the heat here in Virginia which caused it to crack when removing the screws to...

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
Good morning bronco enthusiasts. I am in the process of rebuilding an engine out of a 1996 bronco to put into my 1990 XLT. I have been looking around at a few different options for when I go to do the swap. Some of which are a chip for my ECC, new tourque converter, having the cranck re finished...

I definitely agree it sucks that they don't do this. I picked up # of the bed patch panels from bronco graveyard and now I'm just looking for some 16 gauge steel around my area. I plan on making the panel behind the wheel well myself. They seem rather sturdy for the bed panels, there is no flex...
  17. Oil filler Neck

Noobie Bronco Tech Questions. Flame free zone!
I replaced the fuel injectors under my upper intake the other day, however in all the work and leaving and coming back the filler Neck was damaged. The damage was done on the neck for the breather that goes to the air box. Is there any replacement part for this or am I going to have to replace...

. Thanks for the info! I will most definitely be dropping the tank when I go to tackle this project. I've got a leak in the one I have and my fuel sending unit needs replaced. I'm looking at getting the replacement skid plate off Bronco Graveyard as well because mine is starting to go. So best...

What gauge steel did you use for the panels? For the center section that is ribbed could you use a patch for the bed of an F-150?

So I was cleaning out my bronco the other day and a project I've been wanting to do is a bed liner floor on the inside. So that being said Carpet has to come out. Well in the process of removing the carpet in the back I ran into a bit of an issue. A few inches behind the left side wheel well...
