Looks like crownvic.net is down, so I figured I'd check here..my '03 CV has the EATC. A/C blows ice cold, but recently I noticed that every so often the A/C would switch from the vents to defrost, completely at random..

I ran the EATC self test and didn't get any codes. The blend door module was replaced about 5 or 6 months ago..

Anyway, does this sound like a vacuum issue? I know the EATCs have had issues with the o-rings, and with mine being 12 years old it's probably due..

Just wanted to double check before I drop the $$ on replacement..Thanks.

The "E" in "EATC" means electronic, so I wouldn't expect it to use vacuum for anything. Have you actually found vacuum lines going to that control panel?

yes it does mean electronic. however it relies on these 4 solenoid mechanisms within the module to control the various HVAC features, they use o-rings..there is a vacuum manifold on the back of the module..
