Is there any way to confirm which size clutch is needed without tearing into the bell housing ? 10" or 11"? I need to change out the pilot bearings and since I have to do all the work to get to it. I want to install a fresh clutch while I am at it. My Bronco is a 86' with the 4.9l and has the 3sp w/overdrive transmission. Any help is appreciated.

Well after 3 hours. It is most definitely the 10" clutch . And the hammering noise that started this endeavor is most definitely the pilot bearing... or in this case pilot bushing that had come unseated. So tomorrow will be install new bearing along with clutch and reassemble.

ok, so i have hit a hold up on my re-install. Does any one have a link that shows the proper orientation of the throwout bearing in the clutch fork? The bearing is offset and the original one fell out yesterday before i could note the position of it.
