In the non-AC trucks the heater controls had three settings (OFF-HEAT-DEFROST)

OFF= OFF
DEFROST= Came out the vents up by the windshield
HEAT= Where did this come from? There were no dash vents.

Just curious. Never owned a non AC one

right on top of trans tunnel, the outlet is there ,and there is a black plastic deflector that clips in to direct air to each foot well, it work great with this shield out too as mine has been out for like 20 yrs

if anyone need a picture, I have one installed in my truck and a box out of a truck

"...Here are the scans of the factory manual for servicing the blower motor, heater core & heater control on 78/79 Bronco's & 73/39 F-trucks. My standard apology for the size of the scans applies but lower resolutions blur some of the illustrations and I wanted to scan something that guys could print out & work from if need be../ Includes Control Panel Depictions showing;
Fan Off to High Lever on Left side
Temperature Lever on Top from cool to warm
Function Control Lever Off to Heat to Defrost at bottom
