Lots of pictures here, I’ll try to keep them small for easy download.

The Plan:
1) Strip the new bronco to shell and bare frame.
2a) Sheet metal repair
2b) remove body
3a) POR-15 the new frame
3b) put body back on for transport to painter
4) Paint the body gloss Black (nothing fancy)
5a) Bed liner for the inside and underside
5b) remove body for protection
6) Move the drivetrain from the old Bronco to the new frame
7) Remount the new body on the frame, fit the doors and front clip
8) Move the interior from the old Bronco to the new Bronco

Here are a few pictures of the badly rusted body taken years ago, its much worse now. The body leans to the passenger side, the top and tailgate are holding the quarters from falling over. It isn't safe to drive :cry

Towed my donor home a couple weeks ago.

Originally from Florida, somebody brought it to Michigan in 2005.
No engine, moldy interior, great price!

Started the tear down and sheet metal inspection.
We’ll start from the bottom. No rust to be found, just factory undercoating.

I have a complete set of heat shields, I didn’t know there were so many. I think my old Bronco had one left clinging to the rusty body.

The tailgate is in great condition! :D

Got the interior removed, only the dash remains

The front floor pans are solid, just needs some POR-15 to remove the surface rust.

The rocker panels are rust free, but do have a few holes drilled in them from aftermarket steps.

The bed sides and wheel arches are rust free!

The cargo area is rust free as well.

I pulled the tailgate threshold weather-strip and it looks factory fresh underneath :D

Looks like you have found one that spent most of its life in the south. Do you plan on lining and undercoating it? I would take it in and have it done inside and out.

Mine started out looking about like your donor.I think yours was the same color/colors even.Ugly root beer brown and tan. I stripped the whole floor pan and gator guarded it.You might think about undercoating the bottom side with that spray on stuff I think marhyde makes. Its not that black stuff that gets allover your hands etc. like some of the factory undercoating but more of a rubberized stuff. That and sand all the texture off the fiberglass top. I hated that look and cleaning it.Looks way better smooth.Nice find happy building :)

Looks nice... Looks like I'll be sending a body to the crushers that looks that clean. Can't get anyone to take it off my hands :(

My 94 is clean like that, it's nice to start out with a solid surface..

Hey Fireguy, when I opened the link for your Grey bronco I thought someone found my old one! Any chance you could get me a image of your color codes on the door jamb? I miss my old beast and would love to know how it came. from the factory. thanks!

I'm not the fastest person on big projects. I need to learn some skills to do this right.
I cut out part of my lawnmower and welded in a patch to practice welding

I got the floors stripped of the factory tar, so it can be POR15'ed and Line-X'ed

I got the front clip off

This compost came out of the cowl
