Hey thanks, much appreciated. I've been running multiple concept car builds all across the country this whole year, but the "every waking moment" days are nearing an end soon, with successful completion on all fronts, so i think ill be back on the Bronco work soon!!

Ok folks, life is somewhat returning to normal for me. Just back from Vegas CES & new projects just starting so I've been able to catch up on things around the house & after a few days of relaxation, I have hit the junkyard, grabbed some goodies & regained a bit of enthusiasm to get myself back to the things I love to do, which is working on my cars/truck.

I found an 85 F150 with the 302EFI that was in excellent shape at our local boneyard & I nabbed the airbox, and a factory fan shroud that were pristine. My airbox was pretty good, but it was a bit damaged by one of the clips & one of those clips eventually went missing, so this new airbox will fix that.

As for the fan shroud, mine was missing & I picked up one from rock auto & it fit pretty well & worked, but it just wasn't made quite as stout as the factory one, so I'm hoping this one will hold up the upper radiator hose with a bit more authority, cuz I always felt like if I leaned on the rock auto shroud, it wouldn't have been too hard to push it into the spinning fan blades. That rock auto one has a lot more give to it.

Anyway, then I actually fired up the welder, and got the rest of my cowl welded on. Kind of leaves me with just some sanding & sealing on the roof, digging out the seam sealer in the rain gutters & seeing what i gotta do in ther, but after all ive done on this truck so far, none of that scares me much.

Rob_64_365, Man I can't thank you enough for directing me to Tony's youtub That guy is very skilled and a good teacher, Are you running the air intake through the core support or up and under the hood like factory on the 92-96 all the best on your restoration !

I have the factory 86 302EFI intake on there which has the the airbox over the drivers side valve cover, and brings fresh air in thru a tube that passes thru the heater core just outside of the radiator.

The 92-96 goes over the top of the heater core, & the the airbox is behind the drivers side headlamp, then the intake tube heads to the engine.

I hate the 86 air box it’s just all in the way…but I don’t hate it enough to look for parts to swap it out with. Also I like looking under a hood and it looking like it did when it was new.

I hope to find an underhood storage box one of these days, so I will keep the 86 airbox.

The only thing that the airbox covers is the fuel pressure regulator, & injectors, so its not in the way of anything I need to change frequently.

I let one of those boxes go with the XLT I had, I contemplated taking it out but never got around to it. The other thing I like about the later models is the location of the coil, where it is on our models is a PITA to replace. I’ll probably go with a sniper or something whenever I decide to hot rod my engine a little…eventually.

I bet if you pulled a magnet across your floor it would look like a fuzzy caterpillar with all the grinding dust.

I can't wait to paint this thing, then absolutely everything is coming out of my garage & its getting a very thourough cleaning & a fresh coat of paint!! I hate messes, I clean & vacuum just about every time I work in there & still, the mess is always right back!

I did that a couple of weekends ago, i consolidated my Bronco piles i had laying around, threw a bunch of junk away, hauled out a 55 gallon drum liner of crap, pulled all the stuff off of my work tables and cleaned them, and did some rearranging and only got about half done what i wanted to. It's better but needs more done. Now i have a dedicated paint area, electrical work area, metal work area, then general work area. My wood working is extremely minimal and has yet to get it's own spot in the shop lol...plus i hate sawdust so that usually gets done outside anyway. I recently added a 40x25 lean to off the front of my shop that i have yet to finish wiring up for outlets and plumb up for air, been dragging a hose out and an extension cord for 2 years now...i need to get on that project.

So I had to pull the upper intake to grind down the last few welds, which seems a perfect time to clean the upper and lower intakes up, and maybe replace the injectors, but mine are working fine as far as I can tell... Anyway the torx set i have changed from a 1/4" drive, to a 3/8 drive right at the T40, so it would not fit between the intake runners to loosen the bolt. I tried 2 stores with no luck, they only have T-40's in a 3/8" drive, so I had to resort to ordering a T-40 in a 1/4" drive online. Anyway it came in a day, and I got the intake off tonight, then taped it all off to keep metal shavings out of the engine, & cleaned up all the welds, and finished all the rest of the welding under the hood area.

Then started cleaning up the intake & it looks like it's going to clean up nice.

I guess I'll have to start seam sealing the cowl & painting the engine compartment soon.

Reading your thread has given me hope for the body work on my ride. I wish I had a supplier close by that I could go pick up a replacement hood. Cheapest shipping I've found is from summit at $140.

I don't remember seeing any, but is there any B pillar rust you had to repair? I have holes in mine that I'll have to look at, and also find a way to seal up the sun roof.

There was some b pillar rust down low on about post 98-100 of this thread. My drip rails weren't leaky, & the driver side was good, just my pass side was bad, & that was mostly.from the floor going up on mine.

I stopped by my engine builders shop today dropping off a Chevy 400 smallblock motor I'm gonna have him build into a stroker for me & he asked how the Corvette engine felt, and how the Bronco project was doing. Next thing you know, were at the paint shop a few doors down & he's got the guys mixing me up some single stage paint for my underhood area.

So you guys aren't kidding that paint is expensive!! I was expecting $100, maybe $200, possibly $300?? I have no clue what this stuff costs really, but when he rang it up it was just under $400. Holy crap, this stuff is expensive!! One little pint of paint & the other crap i needed sure didn't feel like it was gonna cost $387!!

Something 4:1:1, 15 minutes between coats... oh God this is gonna get interesting!!

Mix that stuff up in a clean Gatorade bottle and mix in the hardner last. I’d mix the hardener in the mixing cup just before you spray it and only how much you will be spraying. The thinned paint will keep but if you add hardener to it the clock is running on it. That way you can safely stash the unused mixed paint for later.

Yeah @robbz28 I'm trying to remember all the tips and tricks you told me about, and to finally use that little paint gun. I hope my results come out as good as yours. I'll be practicing on the floors, firewall, then door inners. I already know this is gonna be a pain in the ass! Lol
