So my 1991 Bronco has a round stock muffler with offset input and output. I want to go with a Smithys or Cherry Bomb muffler but they are round and have no offset input to output. What is the easiest way to negotiate this plumbing problem?

Have an exhaust shop make an offset pipe to correct the orientation. To be honest the factory catalytic converters are very effective "mufflers". Changing the downsteam muffler is only going to change the tone. It will not be much louder with a straight-thru glasspack.

As said, with stock cats, running no muffler is not even very loud. I had a pair of short glass packs as the first exhaust on my 94. It had a very very slight better sound, but not much.

Hedman makes header extensions that are essentially what your after for the offset. They call them S-tensions or something like that. If it's a 2" pipe, they are offset 2", 3" is offest 3" and so on. Or get a 90 degree mandrel bend. Cut it to two 45s, rotate one 180° and weld back together.
