I know this a worn subject but, I am new to this forum. I have a 79 f250 crew cab that I would like to make a 4x4. I have 2 doner vehicles, the first a 78 bronco the other a 79 f250 4x4. I am pretty sure my frame on the non 2wd f250 is wider. May not be worth my while, or could be done, any help would be greatly appreciated.

Both 79's frame's should be the same width !
whats the wheel base difference between the two 79's?
can you just swap bodies over?
if thats not the route you want the rest of the swap should be pretty straight forward, just have to drill some hole's ...as far as I know?
whats wrong with the Bronco????:hump
why cant you just fix up the 4x4 F250 with the 2whl?

Body swap is out, he has a crew cab 2wd. Wheelbase is to long.

Easiest would be to cut the frames in the middle and swap the 4x4 front half over to the 2wd crew or lengthen the 4x4 frame.

It can be done, just be aware that there are a lot of little issues. Routing the 4x4 shifter, driveshafts, possible speedometer cable relocation just to name a few. Just keep your eyes on the details. Double check the ride height as well. you may need to swap springs in the back. A lot of work, but if you really like your 2by it will be worth it.
