After getting stuck in a deep mud puddle, and eventually being pulled out (pictures to follow) My pony wouldn't start back up. The ground wire going from the intake manifold to the firewall on the passenger side some how got so hot it burned the insulation around it. When trying to start I would hear the starter go, then electricity would go out and repeat, eventually the ground wire would get ho sot it would burn off the insulation and start smoking. There was some water in the exaust, but it didn't get into the engine, and once the engine almost turned over. Thoughts?

check the power wire running to the starter, or the starter itself sounds like there is a short that is sending power straight to the engine block.
