Hey guys! I’ve searched for hours and I think I have a decent understanding but i want to make sure. So just to be clear… as long as I stick with a cam that has a max lobe separation of 114 degrees, I can use any heads I want? Thanks! It is the 351w speed density system.

Have you checked out this thread? Unsure if it'll answer your specific question but it's got a lot info in it.

LSA needs to be 114 or numerically higher. Duration also cant be too big, it should be in that cam thread.

I built one for my old 94 bronco. .040" over, 10.5:1 compression, ported AFR165 heads, comp 35-512-8 cam, edelbrock truck intake, and hedman headers. Desktop dynoed (with stock AFR165 flow numbers) at 340 HP and 475 ft/lbs. I ran it on a 100% stock ignition and efi tune. Ran well but definitely would have benefited from bigger injectors and a tune.

This is almost verbatim on what I’m doing to my 302. Edelbrock intake, comp cams chain, cam, valves and springs, 21lb accel injectors, Hedman headers and DUI ignition components. I hope to achieve the same HP.
Did you run into any snags with it being an SD motor? I decided to go with the BBK twin 61mm TB.
kinda based my build off this article and ran with it

I used the factory 19lb injectors, tune, and throttle body. No real problems running, though it would occasionally idle really low or die at stoplights. When the foot was on the gas it ran great.

I might suggest you to look elsewhere for a distributor than DEI. I have one in my 300 and it runs great and starts instantly. But i only have 2500 miles on it. @AbandonedBronco had one that wore out very prematurely on his 300. Just something to check into.

Thanks for the info. I’m using Davis United (DUI) coil, cap, rotor and gear with the factory distributor as of now. I haven’t started the rebuild as of yet, just collecting parts. I’ve got a ton to read from several threads at this point, and need to see where I stand. Some of the responses are leading me to believe I may have way over spent on a bunch of crap I can’t use, or don’t need. (Story of my life) 😆

Ah you should be fine with that DUI stuff. Its a part in their own distributor that wears out. I will say my 300 with their dizzy in it starts as fast as an efi truck, and its carbed. One pump on the gas pedal to close the choke and it starts in half a second.
