i have a 94 bronco with a 302 and i found a pretty good deal on a 79 bronco that has a 400m in it that was rebuilt and it has 4:11 gears and a fair c-6 all for $1500 because the side got crushed when another car ran into it and the owner doesn't have time to fix it. so wont the 400m bolt right in with the c-6 since it is similar to a 302/351 if so will i need anything. thanks

the 400 will not, I repeat, will NOT, bolt to your transmission. As Mike said, you'll need the tranny from the donor truck, as well as the frame perches. Also, there's nothing computer about the 400, so you're completely on your own for wiring. If you're going to spend the time and effort to get that 400 in, you might as well hold out for a 460

Like David said....All the computer controlled stuff on a 94 machine...Your better off just waiting out for a 460. Since its not your daily driver....You could find a core, and build it as time allows. make one hell of a mean fuel Injected 460. Not only is the 460 carbed....But, Is much heavier then a 400, and it is gonna be 'harder' to find performance parts.

i wanted this because of the price and i could get the front and rear which have 4:11s and i could get the 9 inch rear since i would be switching to a c-6 a non computer controlled trans and the motor was just something else i hoped i could just throw in to make it that much better( the 302 isn't cutting it especially with 198,000 miles)

Thats intimidating!! Which of the 7 wires req'd to run the engine would be the hardest to install??? Lucky he doesnt have to deal with this...

In all seriousnous thats a horrible idea. Your better off putting your 94 body on your 79 frame. Infact if you take my 2 cents, send a self addressed stamped envolope and $200 to...

so i hae another route that i can go. i ambuilding this truck for strictly mud and trail use( mostly mud) and i dont want fuel injection for many reasons 1) i dont want to have the comouter to fool with if i put a highere duration cam and 2) i dont want all the wires or fuel pressure regulating stuff because it is more complicated, harder to fix, and more likely to break. but anyway i can get a 79 f-150 with a 351 and a c-6 if that is a more preferable engine but the only deal is that this engine runs but would need a rebuild before i swap it as would the trans. if i get this i will still be getting a dana 44 and a 9 inch rear because they are still in it. i just figured that the 400m would be better because of the power but i guess not. also is this 351 more preferable or is a post 80's one better. thanks. i can get this truck for less than $1000

I CANT SWAP BODY'S WITH THE 79 BRONCO BECAUSE THE FRAME IS BENT FROM A WRECK
