I have a 5 speed from an 89 F350 4x4 that had a 460. Will this transmission bolt up to a 7.3 diesel? If not is there an adapter plate I can buy?
The problem isn't the final gear ratio, it's the spread between gears. A gas engine has a range of about 4-5000 rpm to play with, the diesel only has about 3000-3500. The ratio between gears in the diesel tranny is tighter to accomodate the lower rpm range of the engine.beisel1111 said:Couldn't I offset that with lower gears in the axles?
