What automatics bolt up to a 460? neighbor says the jy 20 bolt E4OD he bought has wrong pattern and is too small for his 93 F350 460 EFI. Thx.

any thing they made for the small blocks they made for the big blocks pretty much, they just use a different bell housing pattern.

I would think so. I have heard there small block , big block and diesel ZF5's. So this must be the same with the E4OD's. I know the earlier transmissions like the C6 and C4 had the same characteristics. The ones for the 351M, 400 and 460 were the same bellhousing pattern. Then the 351 W, 351 C , 302 and 289 were the same pattern. Once again the diesels were specific to their own.

There is no small to big block adaptor for ford trans. He will need to get the proper trans for his engine.

Their is only two patterns for E4OD, big block and small block.

Big block, 460, 7.3
Small block, 300,302,351
The diesel including 7.3 l are not the same as a big block.

C6 with 385 series big block bolt pattern

E4OD with 385 series big block bolt pattern

FMX and C4 with the 385 series big block bell housing

Yeah the diesels were specific. Will not interchange with the 460 pattern.


The 360 and 390 FE motors had their own shit too.

One of the bad things about a lot Fords tranny's is that the bell housings arent removeable. So you just cant swap bell housings. You have to swap cases and thats the same as overhauling one just about. You might as well go through it if you are going that far.

Their is a couple at the JY here, not that it does you much good. If you cant find one maybe they'll ship.
