when i lock the hubs and try to go the 4x4 stops working.. it makes a popping noise and go's into 2 wheel drive... do you guys think the hubs need rebuilding? whats a way to check if they do? any cheap kits you guys know of?

Are your hubs auto or manual? Also, is the low range auto or manual?

if you have manual locking hubs (have to get outside and seat the dials for each wheel) lock the front hubs but keep the transfer case in 2wd or neutral. try and spin the front driveshaft. if it spins easilly, one or both the locking hubs are bad. if the driveshaft is locked and cant spin, then unlock both ur hubs and try again. if it spins freely, your hubs are working. if the driveshaft still can't spin, then your hubs are bad. canches are if something is wrong with the 4x4 its the hubs so check them first.

if you have automatic locking hubs however, well all i can say is you should convert them to manual hubs cause automatic hubs suck and are very unreliable
