I have just stripped down the top end on my 89 5.0l. Found broken valve due to coolant seeping from intake gasket into #7 cylinder. My question is this: should I change the head gasket on both sides? Is it necessary? I am planning to swap out the engine this summer anyways. thanks in advance for your opinions.

:stupid If it's going to be replaced (as in the ENTIRE engine) then do just enough work to keep it going for now until then. You'll probably be all right, but don't be too surprised if that cylinder craps out.
