Hi,On the top of my 5 speed the seal/bushing/thing where the shift lever goes into the transmission is leaking. I pulled it apart and the whole thing is a mess. So seeing how it is a tiny little part I went over to the local dealer to get a new one. Well it turns out that the seal and bushing and parts I would need are about $100. That is way more than I want to spend, especially for what I would be getting.
Does anyone have a busted Mazda tranny around they could sell me the part from? Has anyone else made their own bushing seal solution? I had an extra tie rod boot and jammed that on the shift lever as a short term seal but I would like something a little better.
Suggestions are welcome!
Thanks,
Tim
It looks like I am in the same boat, funny though, i just had major overhaul on the engine and exhaust including the clutch. Used to have a major oil leak so when I replaced the oil pan and valve cover gaskets I thought I was golden...:rockon To my surprize now she drips ATF, like you described, from the top down.. at first it did not make sense until I read your post....
So, does this job require you to pull the transmission or can you do it from the top? What did you end up doing Tim? Did you ever fix this and anyone have an idea what it costs to have it fixed?
Thanks
