Would a 69 coil sprung dana 44 from a half ton truck be a good axle for a swap. I want an axle to swap into my 94 and I found this one.

They're fullsize. Get the BOM number off the bottom of the axle, run it by the smarter guys on here, and you'll find out more. Could be high or low pinion, and have a really crappy bracket for the panhard bar. Nothing you can't fix, but if its low pinion its just not a sought after axle.

did they have HP's in 69?

The 1969 1/2 ton truck Dana 44 is a high pinion unit with drum brakes and the axles use small u-joints.1973 and newer Dana 44 1/2 ton axles have larger u-joints,but are drum brakes until 1976?If you are converting to the '73 and newer axles and to disc brakes,the housing would be a good starting point.

agree with N on item one. and agree on 2 as well. I think it's bluesquirel that posted pics of the axle in the front of the donor he got, and it's clearly a 78-79 transplant.
