Hey where in lafeyette (can't spell it) do you live?? I bet I'm not far away....

Anyway a bigger alt is better usually. Bigger produces more power for everything and a higher battery charge rate. If you need a new alt go with a 140 amp. Best bang for the buck. Make sure it's a 3G alt because the older 2g's happen to make bronco torches sometimes.

your factory alt is probably 65 amps, being it is still a carb.

400 watts / 12 volts = 33.3 amps of current draw.

I live a little ways south. In vermilion parish.

Btw rjm tech should have a 160amp alt. Ryan (fireguy50 is the owner) if rjm. I bought my 3G there. Not a single problem.

+1 on the 3g alt....best thing in the world for these trucks. Esp if you want to run electrical goodies...hell even if you don't wanna run em...still a great mod

You can get a 130A 3G out of a junkyard vehicle for pretty cheap or you can't go wrong with Ryan's brand new 160A alternator.

If you're patient, he usually runs a sale around Thanksgiving/Christmas.
