I have been thinking about buying a 79 bronco with a 460,C6 tranny, 3 inch lift and 33 or 35 inch tires. I haven't had a chance to go look at it yet, but i'm planning on doing it today. A buddy of mine told me it ran great, had lots of power and the only thing that's wrong with it is that the rear window is gone. The guy was mudding and hit a hill and the tailgate wasn't latched all the way and when the tailgate dropped the glass broke. He did say it was rusted, but the guy only wants $500 for it. Do you guys think this is a good deal with it being rusted?

ok, i went and looked at it. it is rusted through the floor pans and the rear fenders are rusted, but other than that it is in good shape. It is a xlt ranger and has a/c (not working) and cruise (not working either). It has bucket seats and a center console. The motor is not a 460, it's a 351M/400 with a 2 barrel carb. It has an np205 transfer case (the ones that kick in and out of 4wd). He said it needs gas, but it will start up and run fine. He asked me what i thought it was worth and i told him $400 and he said ok. I guess i'll be taking it home with me in a couple weeks!:deal

There's something about these old Broncos that's strangely appealing. Despite the fact that I initially feel self conscious pulling out into traffic in my dinosaur, there's nothing more reliable, more rugged, and more capable of being loved than my trusty '79 Bronco. I've owned all sorts of cars, from brand new 4Runners, Tacomas, Lexus', Mustangs (still own them), and Hondas, but the Bronco has them all beat.

yeah, nice bronco...i hope to get this one looking like that. The first thing i'm planning on doing with it is taking the top of and either having the floors and sides rhino lines, or buy one of those DIY kits for an auto parts place.

Even with the rust, that's a sweet deal. I wish I'd held out for an earlier model. A solid front axle and 4 wheel drive that doesn't operate with a button...sounds like a dream to me.
