I just bought a 79 Ford Bronco Ranger with a 400, I believe to be a small block with a few bells and wistles - Holly carb super coil, etc.

Needs very little body work, but definitely paint. I'm sure my first project is going to be replacing the tranny, I think it's a C6.

Any suggestions on upgrading or just replacing? I'd appreciate any input. Will post pics later and throughout the project.

One popular upgrade is the F350 Brake Booster which should be considered a necessity if your riding on 33" or larger. http://www.okcnetworks.com/bronco/brakes/index.htm

Only upgrade which is replacing the PS pump with a saginaw pump.

Thanks for the info. I'll definitely check out those links, as well as what I have right now regariding my ps booster. I'm riding on 35s.

The reverse just went out in my tranny, and 3rd is pretty much gone. I just keep her straight ahead and under 40 when I have to get out in it.

Currently looking for a C6. It's automatic, thinking of keeping it that way.

just be sure you get one with the big block pattern, not the small block one
