in the pic, you see the output flanges on the 8.8s. The top one is the Ujoint type flange, and the bottom one has a flat driveflange. Can they be swapped out? I will post pics tommorow of the 8.8 i just bought but the output looks like the one in the top pic and the bronce has the one in the bottom pic. I need to know if they will swap.

95% sure they can swap. just be remember there is a crush sleeve in there. too tight and you will burn up pinion bearings.

Yes they will swap I did the same thing when i swapped an 8.8 from an 89 bronco into my 93.

Why not? The pinion length should be the same and the joint is the same.

It's not what he asked. He asked if it would swap and it could. I did the same thing when I swapped my 8.8 and swapped mounts cause I don't like the strap type mounts.

That bottom one is what is on my bronco now. it is a flat plate flange mount. I just wanted to know if i could swap them out. saving me from using the straps. thanks

How hard is it to swap out. what do i need to do?

Check the torque on the pinion nut as you remove it and then retorque the nut to the same spec when you replace it. Otherwise replace the crush sleeve when you swap yokes and follow the installation procedure


I could be wrong but I think that's as accurate as you'll get

well the person that will be helping me is the person that is regearing the front for me as well. we may have to put a tone ring in if so that wont be a problem
