'89 5.8 SD & AOD to '96 4.9 MAF & 4R70W/US SHIFT QUICK 4

As stated in the title, I'm swapping in a mildly built 4.9 MAF & 4R70W/Quick Shift 4 standalone electronic transmission controller into my '89. I'm fairly positive that I will need a MT computer to eliminate any issues that could arise from using an AT computer but I'm not sure which one(s) would be suitable to my objective (year, model, PN, etc).

I also need the appropriate wiring harness to make everything run. As I see it, I have 3 options:

1) find a '96 Bronco 4.9 main harness/fuse box and call it good; 2) find a 4.9 harness from another year or model and modify it; or build a custom one from scratch. I'm by no means opposed to the last option as I find the subject interesting and am free to arrange my setup as I see fit.

Any model interchanges, PN's, general information or advice is greatly appreciated.

I think you’ll have a hard time finding a 96 4.9 manual bronco, ive never seen one. A 96 f150 with a manual and 4.9 should be much easier to find for parts. I have that same truck (96 4.9 manual) I can get you a picture of the computer tonight, but I’m not 100% sure where the computer is in the truck. Let me know and I can send you a picture of the computer model

The 4.9 should've come with an M5OD-R2 manual transmission. What is in your truck?

The computer is located behind the kick panel in front of the DS door, near the floor. The computer could have a label or print on it somewhere.
