Do they just shut off completely or does the speed/frequency change?

Really stupid question but did 90 Bronco’s have intermittent wipers?
My '90 does. It is not like the "turn and click, click" for different intervals on the signal lever on newer models or F-series. More like a turn to click "on" and variable intermittent like an old style dimmer switch. Best i could describe.

Interval Governor Repair in an 89 F 150
Source: by rusheadcarerra

Switch Replacement in an 89; "Went to advanced, spent $20, and got a non delay switch. Plugged right in and worked. Swapped out the wiper motor as well, since it was really noisy and I had one laying around from a parts truck. And found out that the previous owner replaced it as well (junk yard markings), and it had the wrong connector. There's a 3 pin connector on the bottom, and a 4 pin on the forward side. My truck only has 2 3pin harnesses. He just crammed the 3 pin connector (which was molded different as well) into the 4 pin spot... LOL. I'm surprised it worked at all..."

Real common on those is the back part of the switch. It mounts upside down in the dash. There is a solder joint that gets loose which affects low speed and intermittent function, though high speed works well. If your issues are only low and intermittent functions, remove that and carefully check those solder points on the board.

Thanks everyone, im not dead set on having intermittent so would going to low and high speed only be a more reliable fix? ive replaced both the switch, motor and control box to no avail.

Ford sometimes uses a circuit breaker instead of a fuse on the windshield wipers. Check the fuse panel and if it’s a circuit breaker replace it with new. They can weaken with age.
