I think I am ready to start a build thread. I expect this to go slow. I have been gathering parts over the past months. I have also read a lot of info on here. I am starting with a bone stock 200k mile truck. No rust it's from Arizona. I picked up a 2011 6r80 and transfer case from a F150. I grabbed a 351 roller from the LJY out of a 97 250. It only has 76k. I am going to strip the block and have it machined for the 408 internals. I just scored some low mileage AFR 185s, BBK fuel rail, regulator and a Ron Francis mass air wiring conversion. I plan on running a Mega Squirt sequential fuel injection. I am sourcing the 408 internals currently. Nothing crazy I want TQ from idle to 5500. My brother is an engine builder so I gave him my requirements and he is selecting the cam and internals. I'll share when it's purchased. I am going to try to use the 2011 transfer case but need a slip yoke eliminator. I was thinking getting machine shop to drill and tap the output shaft and bolting the 2011 drive salt yoke to the output shaft then adapting that to the current driveshaft. Open for suggestions on this. I have also got a 9 inch from a 80's f150 that I plan to use for some extra strength.

Softball game for today was rescheduled. I finished wiring the console short of table switching buttons. I need to test the stereo before I seal it up so I thought I would throw the speakers in. I didn't realize the speakers I bought were 6.5" and the kick panels only accommodate 6" so careful modification was required. Time consuming too. I'll clean up the massive amount of wires in the console after I ops check everything and tune the amp.

how did you do the speaker panel? it looks good. I have one that is cracked and have wondered about getting them out of the door for rattle purposes and relocating ( plus component capability rather than coax)

They are Q Logic panels that I bought. I did not make them. Is that what you are asking?

I modified the rear speaker mounts to accept the new 6x9 speakers. I cut some 3/8" plywood to use as a spacer to keep them off the body. I also had to cut and bend portions of the mount to accommodate the frame of the speaker. I put the grills on to protect them until I get to refurbing the interior panels. The stereo sounds great but needs a sub IMO. I'm ordering a single 12" shallow mount Kicker L7T12 and 800 watt Kicker amp to drive it. I'll have to build an enclosure for it. I'm going to snug it in the driver's bedside at some point.

OK I pulled the trigger on the L7 sub and amp. I will build the custom enclosure at a later date. I bought an enclosed version so I could fill out the sound. Man this system rocks! I mean really clear sound and the L7 hits hard. It is more than enough bass with the top off. Now on to closing up the console tiring up some loose ends and try to take her for a spin.

Here is the amp tucked in the back of the console. I love it when a plan comes together.

A buddy came over and helped me change out the beam pivots today. I had Threat motorsports HD stock drop pivots and I could not get the passenger tire into spec and the driver side moog adjustable bushing was maxed putting the ball joint at a bad angle. I just wasn't comfortable with that so I bought the Solo or Desolate(can't remember which) 2 inch drop brackets. Much better now. The mocked up Threat pivots will be in the classifieds shortly.

I picked this up yesterday. Hmmm, I wonder what I can do with this?

I had a little time today. I installed my FU lights in the rear bumper. They are the Hella black series. I also took a shot of these cool little tag lights I found.

Back to the console to get it buttoned up. Here is main section. I put the USBs in to connect to trans and engine controllers. I installed the passenger seat and it's seatbelt connector on the console side. Basically I put it in so I had a place to sit comfortably while squaring away all the stuff crammed into the console. Getting closer to taking her for a spin.

Seatbelts, seats and console installed. I was hoping to paint the rest of the dash pieces but it's been too rainy. I need lower humidity.

So you know I had to rush home and clamp one on. I'm like a little kid with this thing. These are very nicely done. They definitely had a jig. The center support lines up with bolts on the xfer case skid plate. There is a hole for the in the rear support for the factory assembly pins(fangs I should have removed). Very nicely done. Another thing I was concerned about was my body being square on the frame when I reassembled everything. The sliders show that it is. I guess it's time to set down my purse and drill a bunch of holes.

Driver's side bolted up. Here is pics from every angle. I had to remove the bracket for the brake cables from the frame. I could have trimed it but I want something cleaner looking.I I'm going to need to find a different(adjustable) intermediate brake cable I think. I may just go with the Lokar set up. Jury is still out. The disk brakes I used require the ebrake be actuated occasionally as they adjust the brakes. Overall I am very please with my purchase.

Why is the step towards the rear? Seems the step would be towards the front to help you get in no ? Or is that to reach into the back?
