Today I swapped out my 95 amp for the 130 amp

Notice the extra 4 gauge wire I need to cut and put another connector on it. The auto store were out of the connectors so I zipped tied it down so it wouldn't move until I can cut it.

I haven't cut the old harness completely out yet I'm going to do that when I put my dual batteries in. The only cut I made was to the yellow wire which I put a connector on it and attached it to the fuse block

I went to radio shack found a cool black case for the fuse makes it look alot cleaner

And before ya'll flame me about the battery hold down, It works right now till I finish my brackets for my dual batteries :toothless

Nice work man. But looking at you set up, the mounting is completely different than mine, not sure that would work on my rig, unless I got the updated bracket. Still good job. Do you feel comfortable with your waterproofing measures? :thumbup
Not for waterproofing maybe dust. I need to find a better boot for it. Not planning on forging any rivers right now though :thumbup It still needs a little clean up work to make it all preety but it works
Dude, is that a vacuum line you have a bolt stuck in? What did it go to? Nice job on the alternator.

Its to the soleniod that use to be attached the the charcoal canister pluged it up and Forgot about it (Its been like that for years)
whats the part number/application for that alternator?
1993 e350 van 5.8l

part# p7768-2-6g advance auto parts
What other kinds of rigs would have a bracket like that? I'm guessing the F350, don't see too many of those at the junk yard though.
cool. I know my diesel superduty has a similar alt. Havent pulled it out to see if it would work in this application but it sure "looks"like it.
sweet set up there John :rockon :rockon
my 95 5.8 had that alt. didnt realize it when i was doing my swap and had to get the right one. wish i would have known to find a 130amp instead at the yard. oh well

I looked at my friends 97 f250 7.3l it has a 130 amp alt its the same one just mounted differently
that cable is CRAP! Why is it 9ft long? you are screwing up the point of a larger cable with it so long. :twak
thanks for bringing this back up, I still need to do it.

What was the cost of that alt at advanced?

Dude, it's not crap, it is 4 GA, pretty sure that's better than the stock black/orange it comes with. I will say I noticed the cable needs cutting as well. He's got 7+ ft. of cable when he needs 2, that's all, sure he'll get to that as well, when he does his dual batt.
just because the cable is 1 size larger doesn't mean it's better.
7ft of 4GA can't handle more than 90-100 amps.
So his cable is TOO SMALL for a 130+ amp alternator.
dont mean to show my ignorance... but what do you need 130 amps for anyway? isnt that OEM 65???
Headlights 20 amps
electric fan 33 amps
blower motor 10 amps

Total 63 amps. Better not have your truck running (spark plugs use electricity), or use your power windows or put your stereo on, or have any other off-road lights, or push the brake pedal and make your brake lights come on

130 amps is better than 65 any day, it keeps the voltage much more stable at high amp loads.
