This bracket broke, does anyone know the part number and could I get it anywhere else than the dealership? This is the bracket that the linkage connects to manually enagage 4wd to the transfer case

yes the piece that goes into the transfer case with a big hex/allen looking bolt
still not sure I am following you so bear with me. You mean this arm going into the Tcase (the one that looks brownish, with NO hex/allen bolt):

The ONLY hex/allen bolts I know of within the whole Tcase setup are the bolts for putting together the Tcase halves, and the hex bolts for the Tcase shifter to attach it to the side of the tranny:

this shows the shifter out of the truck, with hex bolts in it (actually they are a torq T50 IIRC), and they bolt to the side of the tranny into those 2 holes you can just see through the hole in the floor.

You should change to an electric t-case so you dont have all these problems...

There seems to be a rash of manual Tcase goofiness lately.

But, I suspect in some of the instances it's just a matter of: "You can break anything if you pull on it hard enough."

...but it DOESN'T show the similar bolt on the OTHER side that holds the Aluminum casting to the steel plate. ;) The one on which the shifter pivots.

That's true. Do you think he's talking about that bolt?

This is like a guessing game.

How bout some pics of what you broke and we can then respond on where to get what you need. None of this stuff is actually a "bracket that broke off the transfer case".

If you need the one I have pictured (for an e4od), you can take them the pic, but I'll tell you now it is very expensive from the dealer. It's unlikely someone has one on here they will sell (have not seen one for sale in quite awhile). A junkyard is your likely source, I was able to find one at a yard in Minnesota off a '97 F250 equipped with E4OD for $65, which is cheap.
