So I'm at the tail end of rebuilding a 94 f4te roller engine I got from the junkyard and had couple of questions about using later model parts on the engine, First question is will the 94 alternator/smog pump bracket with side mount 3g alternator mount work with the 88 serpentine system if I still use ac/ps bracket from the old block, wondering if it will throw my belt sizing off.
Second question is in line with smog pump and how different the 94 is from the 88 and if I can use 94 system with air in manifolds and still control it through stock ecu. From what I can tell in 94 there is no line directly to cat like in the 88. I got real lucky and the engine came with smog system, complete intake, 4hole injectors, and exauhst manifolds. Came out of a 94e350 clubwagon so most likely saw life as a church bus and didn't get abused, still has cross hatching and bearings were just starting to show copper. Thanks in advance for any input.

So the 94 is an econoline engine? That means it has a saginaw power steering pump. I would use that and the newer AC compressor in a heartbeat.

But yes, you can use a mismatch of accessories. The only difference in PS/AC brackets is the size of holes for the bolts that hold the AC compressor on. This includes van and pickup accessory brackets.

My 94 bronco with F4TE engine had an A.I.R. pipe running to the cat. I am 100% positive on that. It did NOT have the air injected into the manifold runners like my 96 F350 351w did.

Other than that, i dont know about the ecu and smog stuff. We dont need smog stuff here, so it usually gets removed when the engine gets worked on.

Thanks for replies, ya it's an econoline engine, but it only came with the alternator bracket, still need to get a 3g alternator. Good info on the other bracket, if I find one In a jy I might go ahead and update that side of engine too.
As far as the smog setup goes, originally I was gonna delete it, but the new engine came with the whole setup minus the tube going back to cat. It has the pipes Goin into the collector end on exhaust manifolds so it's a little different than the crossover pipe between the heads on the original engine. My first assumption is both systems operates same with tab and tad solenoids just different exhaust entry points. Only real reason I'm putting it back on is mostly for sake of posterity. Its a zero dollar investment and from what ive researched deleting it may not throw codes but the engine management system (mainly speed density) are calibrated with the precursor of air injected prior to O2 sensor, so hopefully, as long as its same controls then It's just plug n play for the most part and I just need to figure out cat air tube. Another big reason to keep it is so it retains standard belt size, I want to ask for a 94 bronco and get the right belt(hopefully).
