I have a 1995 ford bronco 5.8L
I have manual locking hubs, and auto trans. Recently when I engage my 4x4 there is a loud hard clunk while driving. It is not constant, it is not on every revolution. I replaced the u joints on the front axle, i checked the fluid levels in my front diff, and the t-case. it does not clunk when the hubs are locked but it does when the 4x4 is engaged. this leads me to think its something in my transfer case. any advice or ideas would be great?

is it an np208 transfer case? Ive heard of chain stretch that will give a slap when you accelerate or unload the motor.... see if it does it when u get on the gas in 2wd and 4wd hubs can be unlocked to check but the load if they are locked will make it more noticable
