ABS light came on
shifting is not working properly, goes to approx 3 rpm before shifting hard, then the OD light starts flashing
Odometer is not working either
Scanned and received bad speed sensor, replaced no change
also was told needed programmable speedometer/odometer sensor, checked working fine.

Any suggestions, on what to do next????

You did replace the VSS? If yes, the next thing to check (IMO) would be the tranny fluid. It may be time for a flush. First though, did you disconnect the battery if/when you replaced the VSS? If not, you really need to. It will reset the computer for you. Disconnect it for about 1/2 an hour.

As long as you replaced the speed sensor with either a ford or factory replacement part then I don't see a need for a programable one. I agree with jerry, try resetting the computer by disconnecting the battery for about 30 minutes. Sometimes your computers will retain info from sensors in their memory and cause problems even after replacement.
