Hi, just purchased this "96 EB but there seems to be many discrepencies on whether or not it is a EB. I will list the ?'s
1. This bronco is all black... no lower body two tone paint cap is also black, (chrome bumpers etc not a monochrome sport scheme).
2. No spare inside or tailgate...no attachnemt locations
3. No power mirrors.
4. No carpeting on tailgate...no attachment holes
5. Fuel tank is only 25 gallons or so
6. No lower body side step
7. Manual hubs, no electronic switches on dash for auto's (has floor 4WD shifter)
8. The rims have faux rivets (not smooth). Weren't the "rivet type" rims dropped in '93 or so... not EB related I know but just another anomoly
9. Leather seats but no EB indignia
10. Dash and steering wheel are real plain does have the buryl wood trim.
11. Does have external EB badging
Any help on what were options or standard features.

I really don't care if it's an EB or not, infact the back carpeting will be removed anyway. Just curious... there are other problems with the truck that have to be addressed such as torsion bar missing ( Iknow they break but the brackets in the tailgate are missing, the tailgate window operator has been cut out and removed, rear seat hinges missing the pins etc. etc. bunch of other wierd things some major like drive shaft wobble and rear end vibrations. Thats why I call this Bronco an enigma.

Thanks for any help.

yo, WELCOME! A Prev owner may have swapped a lot of bad parts, re-painted, etc or re-badged
Here is the 96 Brochure I added here;
http://www.fullsizebronco.com/forum/showthread.php?t=195079

Next, Look @ driver Door Jamb Label
The vehicle data appears on the certification label on the second and third lines following the identification number: The code set (two numbers, or several letters, or a number and letter) above COLOR identify the exterior paint color (two sets of codes designate a two-tone). The digits under WB designate the wheelbase in inches. The letter or digit under BRAKE TYPE designates the truck brake type. The letters and/or numeral under BODY designate the interior trim, seat and body type. The transmission installed in the vehicle is identified under TRANS by an alphabetical code. A letter and a number or two numbers under AXLE identify the rear axle ratio. The letters and/or numerals under TAPE designate the external body side tape stripe code. The spring usage codes for the vehicle are identified under SPRING. A two-digit number is stamped above DSO to identify the district that ordered the vehicle. If the vehicle is built to special order (Domestic Special Order, Foreign Special Order, Limited Production Option, or other special order), the complete order number will also appear above DSO. miesk5 Note. the wheelbase in inches is shown in lower left block below "Exterior Paint Colors"; The following charts illustrate the vehicle codes.

see diagram below for Paint Codes..look @ 2 tone codes

Eddie bauer package came at least with these options. There are more that I'm forgetting....
Tan Interior - Could be cloth or leather depending on year - yours should be leather.
Eddie Bauer Emblems
Dual Tone Paint
Rear Defroster
Power Windows/Locks
Courtesy Lights group (not sure what's included in your year)
Steel Alcoa wheels (the 8 hole wheels)
Spare tire carrier - yours may be interior, I'm unsure of which years came with what in the package.
Tailgate Carpeting
and a couple of other things I can't remember off the top of my head....

I doubt that the fuel tank is 25 gallons. I have never seen or heard of one that small in a FSB. Also the trim package doesnt determine tank size.
The steps are commonly removed because they rust out and break easily.
The hubs are easy to swap and are commonly changed over to manuals because the autos do not engage anymore. The previous owner may have also swapped in a manual Tcase and changed the dash board bezel, check behind the bezel for the wiring for the electronic tcase shifter.
Tires and wheels are some of the easiest swaps there are. If your bronco's previous owner curbed a wheel he may have swapped on a full set of the wheels that were available.
I have not seen and EB insignia on bronco seats before:tinfoil Maybe I should be paying more attention to the seat threads, lol.

Doesn't sound like an Eddie Bauer...sounds like someone put in the wood trim and badges.

I believe your 25 gallon tank is legitimate....because I believe mine has it too. I've run mine out of gas and can never get any more than 25 gallons and change in it.

If you want to sell that EB wood trim for the dash and door panels, please let me know (send me a private message). I have some XL and XLT trim I could even swap you for it.

yo,
my 96XL came new w/32 gallon tank as STD see it shown in:
the Window Sticker

& in the 96 Bronco Brochure, Source: miesk5 at FSB Go to Features & Specifications Page; left column, Scroll dn to Functional;
"32-gallon fuel tank with skid plates"

Maybe a PO or shop saved $ by installing whatever they found in good enuf condition

11. Does have external EB badging
1. being that you're in michigan they probably repainted the truck due to rust and were too cheap to paint it the original two tone.
2. Probably bondoed/ welded (hopefully) the exterior holes for the spare tire carrier when they repainted it.
3. You don't have the aero mirrors? If not my guess is someone swapped on different doors?
4. Even XLTs came with tailgate carpet. Maybe aftermarket or part swap tailgate when they repainted?
5. Only broncos that came with a 25 gallon tank is the early 80s models, maybe 78-79.
6. Brackets probably rusted off if it was an eddie bauer. Look on the underside for where they mounted, see if you can any reminents.
7. Manual t-case was an option on all the models
8. Yea those are pre 94.
9. Tan leather seats were an option on the xlts. Or they had the seats redone and were too cheap to put eddie bauer on them.
10. Wood trim is from EB

Do the XLT and EB both have the front bumper with vents? I know the XL does not. That might be another sign.
I think the vent bumper was optional on the XLs.
