So Im finally getting around to gathering my thoughts for a new build thread. I know how much ya'll like redneck porn, and the camera I bought my wife for X-mas is pretty awesome...so there will be lots of pictures. Unfortunately I did not have the camera with me last week during my ball joint replcement and 2.5" lift install (thank you to Kenny's94 for all the advice). However the rest of my build will be well documented.

Lets get started! Im Cody, 28, Electrical Engineer and lifetime college student. Im not that into wheeling, rock climbing, or even mud pits. Im also not into spending money... I have a 6 week old baby boy and my wife would shoot me if I turned my truck into a trail rig. My truck is my DD, and will be a multipurpose vehicle as I am an avid South Florida hunter. I have never turned a wrench on a vehicle, so everything I have done/will do was learned right here on FSB. This is a build for the everyday dude, who wants a great truck, kept close to stock, but is able to handle the weekend camping/hunting/beach trip.

Stats:
1993 Eddie Bauer
5.8L 351w with 210xxx on the ticker
Auto trans, engine and drive train is basically untouched

Recent upgrades:
Timing bump and 6 litre tune with ignition upgrade
2.5" rough country lift (kit) with rear blocks
32x11.50 Maxxis Mudders
New Crystal Headlights
3G alternator is sitting in my garage...need to buy harness from Fireguy

Picture time (exterior):

Not too bad for $2000, runs like a top, 4x4 works to perfection, mechanically sound. This will be a cosmetic build, I dont want an engine swap, or SAS...I will have the motor cleaned up, and it needs new exhaust, but that will probbaly be the extent of my mechanical achievements :whiteflag

Interior Pictures and build ideas

As you can see, there are some usual rust issues, door corners, tailgate and fenders. Fenders were patched by proevious owner, Bondo, which is what I will use to fill int he spots on the rest of the truck. Im not a welder and wont pay someone to weld for me. After reading the threads, if you clean the rust area good, cut it out, treat with POR15 and such than it will be just fine with Bondo. Tailgate was bent down, P.O. probably hit a tree, who knows, good news is it gives me an excuse to buy a Hefty Bumper set :rockon

Now for some interior shots:

and one of the hood...the main reason why this truck will get a full new coat of paint:

Ideas

So, Ive bought a $2000 truck, runs great (P.O. is a Florida DoT technician), has the usual rust issues and interior beating, but overall has been a great truck. I have owned it for a year, and have just now got the 2.5" lift, ball joints, tires and ignition bump done. We bought our house about 1.5 years ago and it got overhauled as well. Now the good news, I have a good mechanic at my disposal who has helped me so far, hes a family friend, so naturally I pay a tiny amount but the work takes twice as long :doh0715:

My ideas:

Paint will be First...Ive debated leaving it for last but I have no idea how long it will be until I have money for the Bumpers. So, the truck will get sandblasted (body and chassis). Will get durabak underneath, bumpers and top will also get the UV coating of black Durabak. Debating on Durabak for the 1996 running boards I bought for $50...input?

Truck gets primer, than I will spray single stage Acrylic, color? Olive Drab of course, but it wont be flat. Daily Driver needs some shine ;) all body work will be smoothed and filled/treated for rust. I have never sprayed before, so I will take time to research for sho!

Truck obviously needs cleaned, rims are in rough shape. I want black wheels but I am torn...should I paint the existing or buy a new set?

I want a winch for the woods, and Hefty Bumpers stole my redneck heart...front and rear will be installed :rockon Off Road lighting too...

Interior will be left alone for the most part. Luckily while my front seats are destroyed, at least the foam padding is still in good shape. I will be installing Sportsman Camo Covers throughout, they are awesome. The dash pad was ripped when the P.O. took out his satelite radio, needs replaced. Windshield has a funny leak, and carpet is stained. I will be adding electrical mods, light switches for off road lighting, gauges and such. All factory electronics work like a champ.

This is just the start, I will try and update when I get parts purchased...just thought I would share, I love FSB.com, your wright ups have helped me several times!

hahah Rob only if they are old and super rich...I mean just kidding...kind of...seriously though the truck will get new paint, $74 for the single stage kit, $20 Harbor Frieght sprayer, it wont be show quality but it wont be rattle can. My first thought was a gallon of flat Olive and some camo rattle, but the wife said she wouldnt ride in it. Buying Paint this weekend, let yall know the progress.

Thanks Kenny, your truck has been a motivation of sorts for me, one of my favorites on this site.

No doubt! sucks I only have 10k miles on my 32x11.50 Mudders, they are barely worn...but if I can get a good price for em I may trade up now. Question:

Anybody run Kuhmo tires before? I like the MT KL71 look, they are badass for the price. Just curious on wear? If they suck I will stick with Maxxis Big Horns, they have always been the best economical tire.
