All of the junk email on my Outlook account is suddenly going to my inbox and some of my trusted email is going to the junk folder. Anyone else having this problem? Its really getting annoying as there are 80-100 junk/spam emails a day in my in box. I've never had this problem before, one of my co-workers is having the same problem.

Do you use the PC based program or the server based? Junk filter rules will be setup and may be corrupted accordingly.
Not sure I know the difference but I'm guessing PC based

Do you open an independent program on your PC or do you go to a website? MS has been trying to force a change from program to service for awhile now. I'm still using MS Office 2013 (program) on a Win10 PC.

If you're using the program, you might have to search the Microsoft Knowledge base, find the file that holds the filter rules, delete it and rebuild the list. Sounds like a huge pain in the ass and the real problem is, without finding out what corrupted the file in the first place, it could happen again.

Could be a side effect of having a .PST file that's exceeded the old 2GB limit on email storage. I had heard they fixed that... but I haven't supported that email program in decades and I'm sure much has changed since. You could try to compress the .PST file in Outlook and hope that might resolve but that's a long shot and would be a temporary fix. If that fixed it, you might have to create a new .PST file for your main and then access the old one only when or as needed. There are a few ways to go and that will depend on your needs and environment. Regardless... Outlook will NOT store email indefinitely but nobody knows until they hit the limit and problems start.

Wish I had more for you but like I said... it's been a long, long time since I worked for MS Office support.

I have Hotmail accounts that i access thru an app called aquamail for my phone and tablet and the last 3 days there has been tons of spam in my inbox that are usually in my junk mail folder... And emails I subscribe to that should be in my in box are in junk mail despite repeatedly moving them to in box which u would think would whitelist them (and generally does when accessing Hotmail/outlook on the pc). I actually sent aquamail customer service an email last night WTFing them over the issue. Glad to see I'm not the only one and to find out it's more likely an outlook issue not an aquamail issue.

I have a .pst file that right now is 3.214593 GB, I think they fixed the 2 GB .pst problem a few generations of Outlook ago. I'm running MS Office 2013 on a Windows 10 Home ver. 1909. I haven't seen any increase in junk mail (yet).

Thanks Mikey. I had heard that it was a priority but I was out before it happened, so I would have no idea what type (if any) of side-effect issues may have come about.

Might consider re-creating your junk rules or possibly talking to your business mail admin and see if they've noted a spam increase to your business domain, if they've made any changes higher up allowing more through, if they're aware of any other users having similar issues and if they plan to do anything about it. As you say it's a business centric issue, it's likely best to run through it with them. Businesses handle these things very differently depending on multiple factors.

I had noticed an increase to spam mails over the last 6 months but I was recieving ALL mails sent to my domain, as the domain owner. I went into the email server settings and stopped forwarding everything sent to my domain and narrowed it down to just my account and things went back to normal. Point being... there was a serious uptick at the domain level for my account but not specific to my own address.

Stop surfing porn at work. lol! j/k... maybe.

Yeah, its been out of hand the last few days, I've been getting at least 15 junk emails in my "Focused" inbox which might usually get 2 or 3 a week. Must be a Outlook thing if its happening to more than just me

Outlook may be responsible for spam email that was previously being filtered, not being filtered properly anymore. Outlook is NOT responsible for spam mail coming to you, for spammers figureing out a new or different way to slip through your existing filters or anything like that. You can use Outlook, Thunderbird or any other number of programs to download and manage your emails... but that's really about as far as it goes.

Yes I did, Thanks! I just read it , I didn't know you had to check to see if you have replies to messages, I thought you would get a pop up notification when you get a reply, I'm still figuring out this new layout.
Anyway it turned out to be something other than the carb so I won't be needing it after all.

Actually the spam seems to be slowing down now, only had five in my inbox this morning but there was 18 in the junk folder where they belong

No popups bud. Now we have to look for a little red dot on your avatar at the top, right of the screen as you notification. When you click it, you'll see a drop down menu that let's you know you've got a response in a thread = discussion, or a private message = conversation. Hate the new setup but AutoGuide overlords could give two sh!ts about what we think.

edit add: Oh yea... discussions (ie: threads) are no longer subscribed, they're "followed".

Mine is completely back to normal again, all the junk/spam is going to the junk box so it must be a Microsoft thing. Hopefully it will clear up for you as well
