This is the only review I found for it and It's not very good.

I want to restore my Door panels, and yes, I want to keep them the factory red. They have a red that matches the interior exactly, and that's what I want.
(LMC sales it)

But I don't want something that is going to scratch of with just my finger.

Are there color matched alternatives that may work better?

The tops of my door panels are pink :histerica

I have never used the Colorbond stuff, but I did my interior with the Duplicolor version of it a year ago and mine has held up fine. I prepped it right, so it is very scratch resistant. I don't know if they have the exact red you need though? I think there is the "plastidip" as well??
I gotta paint my dash sometime. The very top is all peeled to hell
I'm slowly converting from tan to gray interior and have been using duplicolor vinyl and fabric paint. I'm very happy with it. My dash is now gray and black with silver accents and my door panel is gray with high gloss black armrests.
I did my 85 f-150 a few years ago and held up fine, I am not sure on wich brand I used but I would think they are all about the same.
i used it on my old chevy and when i hit it with a pressure washer it flaked off, it have been user error due to lack of prep.
I have used SEM paints with good luck on my Corvette. Here is is a good write up on it..

I used the SEM paints after research because there were a lot of good articles. If you have an auto upholstery shop/supplier near you, they should carry it.
I ordered a can of Dark Red ColorBond from LMC.

I am going to use it on my door panels when I refinish them.

I will post up my results :thumbup
i have a 95 with gray interior and im thinking about painting it back. any picks? and can you paint the headliner?

Actually I just got a can of colorbond today, and painted a test piece tonight. Pics should be up tomorrow.

and can you paint the headliner?
You can. But I painted my removable top headliner with something else, before I found out about color bond.

why would you be pressure washing the door panels inside the truck?

Ok, I painted the test piece.
It's a tan A pillar molding I am planing on trying to graft a generic gauge pod onto at some point in the future.

(Don't want to ruin the original in the attempt)

So since it has to be red one day anyway, might as well use it as a guinee pig before I spray this stuff on my door panels.

Prep:
I cleaned the entire thing with purple-power twice. Then I lightly wiped it down with acetone. Then, just to make sure the factory paint did not cause a problem I wiped a section down with acetone until the factory coating was removed and it was down to the bare plastic. This is the lighter area in the picture below. Unfortunately this did lighten the texture a little.

Took 5 mist coats to cover. The area with the factory paint removed was harder to coat, making me think it was sinking into the plastic, but sat on top of the factory paint everywhere else. Then again it may have just been the fact that that area was lighter.

Well it definitely looks like something that belongs in my Bronco :toothless

I'll give it at least 24hrs to cure, then we will do a few scratch tests to see how it holds up. :thumbup

grab a can of plastic prep, it will help with adhesion.

Is that liek a primer?

If Gacknar's test is good I may redo all of my interior panels. It seems like it will be a relatively inexpensive way to freshen it up.
its an adhesion promoter, will help the paint stick better.
It may sound odd, but all the pink in your interior, take a heat gun to it. The heat will melt the outside of the plastic and give a gloss finish back. I've seen it done quite a few times on some faded fender flairs on jeeps. :thumbup
I let the Color Bond cure for 48 hours and then did a scratch test.

I can not scratch it off with my fingernail anywhere and it takes a serious effort to scratch it off using a penny.
(I'll post some pics of the results later)

I have painted a few plastic pieces with duplicolor interior paint/die and Krylon fusion and was never impressed with the adhesion, I am much more impressed with the result's I have obtained in this test with ColorBond. :thumbup

Granted, I did not do nearly as much prep work with either the Krylon or Duplicolor product so it may not be a fair comparison.

Now that I know it will stick, I'm gonna try it on the door panels :thumbup

Did you notice any difference with the portion that you fully stripped down vs the rest? In other words, does one need to completely strip the factory color off? What did you use to prep it with? I mean, I know purple power and acetone, but with just a rag?
Wow, that's great looking. Not bad!

Yes, just a rag and water to wrens with.

Ok, here are the post scratch pic I promised a month ago :toothless

(Click thumb for pic)

If you look closely you can see a chip missing from one end and a crack in that same end. It got well abused after it was painted to test the adhesion of the ColorBond.

I must say, I am impressed with the product :thumbup
