I have replaced U-joints before, but only on driveshafts, so here comes the noobish question. My passenger side axle shaft of my dana 44 looks like this:



I've never seen this type of U-joint before and after looking at it and the C clips the new on comes with I am worried that something has rusted out and is missing from the yoke. Any help? :whiteflag

LOL your missing the u joint cap..Looks like it's time for a new axle..It looks like the other size has rusted so bad that it fused too..

Turns out that if you have a mill with a carbide ball endmill it actually isn't that bad to get out:

We gave up the idea of replacing the wheel joints. We had to rummage through the junkyard and found a couple shafts that worked pretty good. We brought the old one's with us because we discovered there were different lengths of shafts even for the same side depending on the truck it was on. Also found out the the c-clip area were at different spots on the end of the shaft. Lessons learned.
