My axle is stuck in the axle shaft. :cry

I was replacing my axle seals and got all the way up to the point where you push the axles in to reveal the C-Clip. The passanger went in all fine and all but the driver side wont budge.

I pulled out the retaining bolt & the spiders

This is as far as the axle will push in... The other side went all the way in.

Steve83 and i came to the conclusion that the axle bearing has dug a grove into the axle and will not let it come forward. Ive tried beating the axle so hard it almost knocke my truck off the jacks...

Im at witts end here guys. Could someone PLEASE help me find a way to remove my stuck axle? :drinkbud

Instead of piggy backing on a "how to" tread in the tech section, i started this one so that it would not clutter up and add unnessary posts to an otherwise good wright up. :beer

try pushing the bottom and pull on the top at the same time to try to lift it over the groove is my guess
Thanks for the suggestion, i already tried that one. :banghead I actually put a jack against a wall and the tried to jack the axle in, as i used a pry-bar on the C-Clip side to pull. No go, the axle is in there darn good!

When I replaced the seal and bearing I used a slide hammer and all my strength. I almost pulled my truck off the jack stands and damn near broke the hammer. I still couldn't get it out and I ended up cutting the race with a cut off wheel and then prying it out with a giant crowbar. That seal and race was a PITA and I wish you luck - without some sort of hydraulic device (porta power) I'm not sure one can pull that damn race out...

Thank you everyone but the pushing, pulling, digging and beating only went so far... A friend of mine from the f150online site gave me the idea to cut the C-clip in half with a dremmel and work from there. Since i dont have a dremmel, i have a high power dewalt drill. So i purchased a bit and went to work. I have about 1/16 inch left on the c-clip before the bit broke... Looks like ill finish tommarow :chili: And it also looks like i owe Jay-Jay a $50 spot. :drinkbud

I dont see how that is going to help you when you go to put the axle back in place. My thinking is you're not going to be able to get a new c-clip back in place. Good luck.:popc1:
