Currently I have a 1984 CUCV and it keeps dying on me. Truck has a 4" lift and 36" Wrangler RTII's. I'm moving soon and am going to be a 3 hour drive from decent 4 wheeling. The CUCV isn't reliable enough and cant do highway speeds with the diesel, a th400, and 4.11s.

Anyway I want something that I can wheel hard and drive on the highway with. How strong are the 90's bronco drivetrains? What axles would I need to be able to run 36" tires (I know in chevy's it is the 14 bolt Full Floater which is what I got)? Also is there a full floater axle people run in the bronco? I am thinking the manual is gonna be the way to go if I have like a 4" lift, tires, and want to drive on the highway. If I decide to lift it 4" what will need to be changed? Basically what am I gonna need to do to build a powerful, strong, and highway capable 90's bronco.
