Nice tag, you put a radiator flush into it, or just filling with water and emptying it. That shows it was not taken care of and checked on a regular basis. Hopefully the rotors will look better for ya.

That's just plain nasty, but I'm sure we've all been there one time or another. This bronco had huge rocks of carbon under the valve covers when I bought it and did the rebuild. Yieeecck! Keep the pics comin. We could make a thread on neglect or bad maintenance.

I have just been filling it, running it for 20 mins, and emptying.

This truck was definitely not taken care of. When I took that skid plate off of the gas tank, I found a dead crayfish wedged in it.

This my sound a little stupid but have you tried installing one of those Prestone flush & fill tees? It's about a 3 minute job and then just hook up a garden hose and flush that nasty crap out. Good luck.

Just add one of these to your heater hose and attach a garden hose to it, and run it until it's clear.

Then just add about a gallon of antifreeze (assuming a stock radiator) and top it off with more water.

That'll get ya pretty close to a 50-50 mixture.

Ya tire or a new radiator or if your in a place that will let you. Stick a hose down it and see if it gets clean.. Thats what the guys at the quick lube here do..

...About flushing the radiator...

I've got to do a flush here in the next few weeks, but I've been holding off becuase I didn't know how to dispose of the old coolant - my stuff is ethelyne glycol - can I just flush this out to the storm sewer?

no, you can't pour it into the storm drain. What i've done with mine is, collect it into a designated bucket, then funneled it into old gallon milk jugs. I've called around, asking each shop if I can drop off my old coolant. Around here, the steel scrap yard can take it, as can several mechanic shops - You might also call your local dump station, and ask if they can take the old coolant

All car dealerships with service centers have a coolant tank, if you stop by and ask to leave yours they should not have a problem.

Looks like someone over did the block seal on it. I would be careful about flushing it to much or you might unplug the leak that stuff is blocking.

Would it still be coming out looking like block seal after the 10th flush? I drain it, run water through the radaitor until it comes out clear at the bottom, plug the bottom, fill it up, run for 15/20 mins, and when I flush, it comes out brown again. I think I'll get myself one of those garden hose adapter things.

Nasty lookin rust water.

Here is a tip,

Dont put tap water in your truck. Flush it with the hose but dont fill it and cap it off with tap water. Use distilled water. You wont have a buildup of rusty mineral deposits.
