So here is a little background info. Of course I wasn't even looking for another toy. I have too many vehicles as it is especially after I picked up my brother's 1954 Chevy five window pick up truck but I got a link from Tony (damn you Tony, j/k) so I thought I'd give the guy a buzz. I had jury duty yesterday and was let go in the afternoon so thought I'd drive over. Had some cash in my pocket and thought I'd take a look for sh-ts and giggles. I talked to the owner, went out for a drive on it on the freeway, looked it over and made a deal. Got a schmoking deal on it.

The Good:
351W engine swap, originally a 302 in it (that's the owner claims, I'm sure the vin will shed some light on that).
C6, just rebuilt earlier in the year, owner supplied a stack full of receipts and the rebuilt tranny receipt was included
Cut and Turn beams, look like they are stock width but it has a truss on the front
9" rear end
2.5 14" Bilstein coil overs with shock towers (no engine cage tie)
Beard seats, 2 low back seats
6 35" tires, 4 BFG with 85+% tread and 2 Procomp tires near new
Headers, appear to be JBAs but not sure

The Bad:
Stock radius arms
Vehicle spent a couple of years in Seattle so hood and roof have surface rust
Windshield has a crack on passenger side
small leak coming from the valve covers, maybe just a gasket is all it needs
Driver window motor is not working, easy fix
And finally the truck just needs a good cleaning.

Here is some more info I got on the truck. Apparently it was built by a fabricator/racer (name escapes me right now) who raced a Class 8 truck. Previous owner wanted to build a prerunner and started working on this bronco. Got as far as he did and then decided to sell it. The owner I bought it from owned it since 2002 and said he has put less then 20k miles on it as he has two other vehicles and just never really had a chance to drive it.

My plans:
Slap on my Solo Motorsports radius arms

Mount my Autofab fenders and hood

Pick up some 2.5 smoothies for the rear and maybe slap on my Deavers.

And call it a day.

Philo,

Yes you are correct. I will be adding an engine cage to tie those two together.

As it is right now this truck runs really strong. I opened it up on the freeway heading down the 5 Freeway in Dana Point and it just hauls. Even with 35" tires it moves.

Chris, i'm happy for you brutha! Sounds like it has some good stuff. Just don't go tearing it all apart never to put it back together!
Thanks Nick. You're right about that. I'm going to keep this one simple and run it as is for the most part. Too many projects and not enough time and money for all of them. Plus I can't fit any more Broncos at my house.

Am I officially welcomed into the Brotherhood of White Broncos???? Nick, Brian???

So I'm going through my stack of receipts given to me by previous owner and I find a receipt for Baja insurance from November 01 through November 16th, 2000. I guess this Bronco is no virgin to the Baja 1000 or was it the Baja 2000 in 2000?

Does the name John Copeland sound familar to anyone? That is the previous owner/builder I believe.

Thanks Tower but I think I'll either throw the deavers on my new 1984 or save them for my Class 3 build. I'm hoping to swap the front end of the 4Door (1989 front end to 1992-1996 front end) next month but for the most part it'll stay as is for a little while. I'm hoping to drive the four door to the Le Duc swap meet next year.

Andy I'm just storing the 13 Alcoas at your house, ha ha ha.

Sneak peak of what's happening with the 1984 Bronco.

Swapped out wheels to newer Bronco style Alcoas:

Engine cage not complete but looks great:

Thanks Philo. For the four door I've gathered all the front end swap pieces and had them powder coated so just waiting to handle that front end swap which I'm really not looking forward to it. I have also picked up one brand new BFG All Terrain 315/75/16 tire and looking for three more to complete my set. Lots more to do on the four door but I'd like to get the 84 in fight shape to hit the desert.

Thanks Yaa. It was a killer deal. Engine is strong, tranny is nearly new, brakes are new, damn there is not much that mechnically this rig needs other then a solid cleaning. I may end up selling this thing sometime next summer as I really want to get the four door in prerunner shape.

Looks awesome Chris. Get it done so I can take it off your hands.
ha ha ha no kidding. Next I'm starting on sanding the body down and repainting it myself. Straight up low budget style with a harbor freight spray gun.

Under, I gotta connect with you. I'm not in LA today to get the springs.

None yet Philo. It's sitting at my buddy's shop as I have no room at my house right now. I'm picking it up this weekend to head to the MDR race so I'll take some better pics then.
