Cattle rustling is still a hanging offence... Still on the books ?
Quirky old laws are entertaining. For instance, in Lawrence, KS, any motorized vehicle must sound their horn to let the horses know they are coming. Still on the books, but obviously not enforced.

Would be enforced here with all the Amish buggy's we have on the roads... Or like the crazy laws in CA making it illegal to peel an orange on the street or in NY making it illegal to spit in the subway...

Interesting timing. My brother was just telling me that Monrovia (a nearby city) still has spitting laws on the books. He theorized it was from a time when chewing tobacco was a lot more common, which makes more sense than the thoughts of proper etiquette driving the law.

Actually they were enacted to protect health... Specifically tuberculosis...

NY making it illegal to spit in the subway...
I know a guy who got a ticket for spitting, while arguing with said cop about his music being too loud in an unattended running car. He got four infractions that day lol.

We dont have any true Amish that I'm aware of, but many many Menonites and Brethren.

@BroncMom
Thanks. Not such a silly law after all. Btw, the topic was not brought up by spitting. He had seen a sick looking person dropping kleenex.

Bump for the stolen bronco.
