I don't have one to sell. But be aware that there were 2 different styles.

I think this style is for 1989 & before & is wrong for your 96.

I think this one is for 1990 & newer & would be correct for a 96.

The 1990 & up strike works with a clamshell type latch.

If I remember correctly, the latch in the third photo looks right. At least it attaches to the carrier in the same way, three bolts. The actuating lever and rod appear to be the same as mine, too. When I get the chance to, I'll try to post up a pic. of the support bracket that's on the tailgate.

Second photo is correct for mine, too, but mine is missing the rubber bumper.

I believe (except that old ones are 2 holes & newer are 3 holes) that the inner tailgate supports are the same. Mine is actually a 2 hole support. I drilled the 3rd hole & added a nut inside.

This came off my '93. I checked, all the parts move. The tailgate bracket is a 3 hole.
You can have as much as you want, for shipping cost. The whole thing if you want it. The bottom tube has a slight bend, just outside the hinge, so it hits the hinge when closing. It could maybe be straightened, or the hinge relieved. I just swapped it for the one off my '89, as i wasn't comfortable putting a 35" on the carrier on the '89. But, if you don't want it all, i'll strip it. It's just sitting there, waiting to rust away.

Was the 89 the older style strike & latch? There's been some discussion over the years as to exactly what year they made the change.

Not sure if this will qualify as a "write up", but's tech info. Being new here, I been looking around. Somewhere, if I could remember, i'd be putting this there, I saw a write up about outside tire carriers, it was missing some info that I have, and did not have answers that I do. So, on to it...
