Hey, got a question after searching for a while. I used to have a problem where my brake lights wouldn't come on unless a pressed really hard and would go off even if I released it just a little bit, I posted that problem a few years ago and got help fixing that.

Now though, I would push the brake pedal and the light would only come on when I released pressure. I just replaced the switch and the brake lights will only stay on all the time. Pressure, no pressure, always on. I have no idea what to do. The new switches spring is noticeably stiffer than the old switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I am stumped. I'll keep searching as well.

new doesn't always mean it works, could be a short in the new switch so it always thinks the pedal is pressed?

:stupid

Do the lights turn off when the switch is unplugged? if so then your problem must be related to the switch, either it is defective, improperly adjusted, or improperly installed.

ok, switch might've been defective, but I pulled it to put the old one back in and wouldn't ya know it, the old one now works fine. Maybe something in the wires as I was pulling it or it got loose or something. Thanks for the replies.
