Hi im new here I own a 85 302 on 31

Im about to buy another bronco ..its a 1992 351 A4OD eddie bauer w/31 all black..no tan
and a want to know what is exactly under that truck
axle??
gear??.........how can I know if they're locked
whats the power of a 351 in 1992
and the t-case

Welcome to the site, Hp is around 195, the gears are 3.55, auto tranny i believe.

if its stock then no lockers, up front there is a ttb dana 44 and a ford 8.8 in the rear, if it is a E4OD transmission then it will have an overdrive button on the shifter vs the AOD with the overdrive is selected by moving the shifter to a second drive position . im not sure which one your talking about, but if its a 92 then it most likely has a borg warner 1356, either a manual shift or a electric shift. some broncos with the towing package came with 4.11 or 3.55 gearing but most came with 3.55 gears. the truck sounds almost exaclty like mine minus the absence of tan two tone. good luck in your purchase

The 9'' Rear was stopped in the mid to late 80's, Dont remember the last year.

Despite common misconceptions...the 8.8'' can be built to be plenty strong, and still have very nice road manners.

My '86 has a 9" from the factory, and I believe that may have been the last year for them.

If the metal axle tag hanging off of a diff. cover bolt says 3.55L= Dana Trac-Lok Limited slip...not the best thing in the world to have though. If no "L" is listed then it is not limited, just open. I know a Trac-Lok is made for the D44 but I'm not sure if they were ever optioned out from Ford on the TTBs. Horsepower for a '92 351W EFI, you're looking at 210 - 215 HP. The 195 HP number is more reminiscent of the carbed 351W which ended in '87.

i think they did, but they are pretty rare. i have seen a couple guys on here who said they had them, but i don't remember who or what option package it was with.:shrug

'83 was generally the last year of the 9". '83 to '86 could be either rear depending upon the mood Ford was in that day.

'87 had to have the 8.8 'cause Ford was all happy on their RABS.

The 9" is a couple baby steps ahead of the 8.8. IOW, they both suck, the 9" is just the lesser of two evils. Sort of like when you hate both primary presidential candidates, you vote for the one you dislike the least :shocked

The 9" was available thru '89. By that time, it was rare, but it was available. As for the 9" being lightyears beyond the 8.8", I've exploded three 9's. I have yet to break an 8.8".
