I have found a used roll bar for sale that is said to come off of a 78 ford shortbed truck. It looks as if the rear posts mount to the top of the rear wheel wells. Would this roll bar fit in a 79 Bronco? It seems as if the two have a similar wheelbase and could likely accommodate the same roll bar.

Yes and no. Itll likely need modifications for height. I dont know if the distance from bed to top of wheel well is the same between the two. Also, the bronco passenger footwell is much lower, so the front legs will need extending. Buuuut then figure in that the roll bar likely protruded above the roof of the pickup, whereas you need to clear the topper. Also, many of the 80's style truck roll bars just out over the bedrails, which again, wont clear the topper on a bronco.

It's worth checking out, for sure, but I highly doubt it'll bolt right in.
