I'll qualify this by first saying that I'm not trying start a debate on body lifts versues suspension lifts. I just wanted to show what I did for my bumper for strength to compensate for the body lift;
I used an old frame and cut the front horns off as donors, I made use of the bead blaster at work and painted them:
This is what I want to cut so it will fit on my frame:
So the old bumper and cheesy bracket is removed and made ready for the surgery:
For the cut on the frame I decided to use the same angle as the horn:
Transfered the lines to the frame, the filter is for the transmission:
Checked twice and then out came the cutting wheel:
Next was attaching the donor frame horns to the bumper and getting the measurements right for the next cuts:
Measured carefully and then cut the donor horns:
Tacked in place and checked again for placement:
Cut some plate to cover the gaps and tacked in:
Now for some Mig:
Now I just need to clean things up and paint the pieces and bolt the bumper back on, but I know it's not going anywhere.
