If I were to do a MAF swap on the truck, would a MAF and other necessary parts work from a V8, or would I need the stuff from another straight 6?

you'd need stuff from a MAF 4.9L like this one:

But I too have to ask why? it would cost money and wouldn't yeild lots of "noticable" results. If you want it, get the MAF, tubing, harness, and computer from a 94-95 MAF 4.9L, don't pay alot.

Ok, thanx.

I know that, at least not on a stock vehicle. Plans are to do the normal "V8 stuff" (i.e. roller rockers, port/bowl work, port matching, cam, etc.) , also a 19lb in jector swap; the ultimate goal is a turbo but that's waaaaaaay off in the distant future. If I don't go 393 or 460 first.
