hey everybody

well i myself am a jeep buy along with most of my friends. but heres the deal. we found a late 80s bronco 2 for sale for 200 bucks:shocked

so me and 2 other guys went out tonight to try to get it started. well the battery was dead, even jumping didn't work, so we got my brand new battery and tried it. fired up and ran like a CHAMP..for about 2 mins. it would rev from idle to the moon without the slightest sputter. but then after 2-3 mins it started sputtering, and died. if you let it sit for a while it will fire back up, but do the same thing. me and my friends are pretty mechanically inclined, but this ones got us stumped. were just going to buy this and flog it so we dont damage our daily drivers.

thanks:thumbup

had the same problem with my 78 280z. it'd been parked in a field for 14 years and at first it would only run until it got warmed up, then die. I just cleaned up a bunch of electrical connections, made sure the spark plug tips were clean, and bought a new battery. As of right now it starts up and runs for as long as I want it to, but I'm not sure what exactly I did to fix it. If I had to guess I'd say what made the biggest difference was cleaning off the fusible link connections that led to the fuel injection computer/module/thingy.
another thing that might possibly help is to keep running it as much as you can to try to work the old fuel out of the lines.
Just some suggestions, but don't put too much faith in me, I'm still new to all this.

any ideas on how to fix that:banghead
Well check it first. Harbor Freight sent me an email ad for a fuel pressure gauge, all the fittings etc, for 7.99. Hook it up to the fuel rail and see if the pressure drops as the motor dies.

If the pressure remains steady, its not fuel related and you've ruled it out.

Do that first, then post back here.
