Carpet Q's (pics)

Well since I am waiting on the gears to arrive and waiting to get the axle back from the powercoater, I decided I needed to start something else b/c the Bronc is still a long way off. I took out all the interior and cleanup everything up a bit. Found $1.23, 8 Coors Light bottle caps, a razor blade, and alot of dirt.:toothless

The carpet is certainly not bad for 17+ years, but I would like new carpet. I know I could Herculine it and be done, but I like the cozyness of carpet:D I want the interior to be quiet for those long hwy drives to the trail, I also want the carpet to be soft and plush b/c I sometimes sleep in it while on trips. BUT, I know it would begin to get dirty with all the muddy straps going in the back and stuff. Cargo area floor mat? I think I want the whole carpet kit. JBG has them for around $225 I think. ANyone else have them cheaper? Will it come with any type of insluation? Will it come with those strips in the back area under the carpet?

I would really like a pretty quiet and cool cabin area, but I understand its an old truck. So what would you do? Insulation on floor and sides, dynamat, etc?

I think I got my carpet kit for something like 150 from a place here in town. it didnt have the monkey fur but mine was in good condition so I just reused it. It went in clean and you cant tell its not OEM carpet.

I bought mine off Ebay

I bought it from the same seller as this auction

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2437046418&category=33697
still comes out cheeper that $200 with shipping. I did not use the buy it now, i just placed a bid for $170 and won at that price.

When i won,
i called them and gave them the information about the carpet that i wanted , Color, Bronco year and so on.
Their carpet is from Auto Custom Carpet
http://www.accmats.com

Do a search for Carpet in the Forums, guidogabriele installed the exact same carpet a while back.

Sound deadener!

And it works really good, too. I stripped it all off my truck a day or two before i got it rhino-lined, and the truck was so god damn loud afterwards that it actually hurt my ears to drive on the highway!

Hand grinder, and heavy-duty wire wheels. The light duty wheel shredded pretty fast.
Um, it took like two or so hours to do it, and holy crap did it make a mess. I did it with a buddy, and we took turns- one person used the grinder while the other held the vacuum:toothless

The lining made up for it, and its just as quiet now as it was before, but since youre putting carpeting back down, i wouldnt bother trying to remove it.

i would guess that if you heated it up a little it could be scratched off with a puddy knife
Interesting theory......that might work, but either way itll still take a while to do.

Swampy...

If you have the money, Do both the Liner and the carpet.

Liner will deaden it, and reduce the rattles...And kill rust spread if you treat it and then cover it. Then padding and carpet over it...You wont hear a thing.

This is my plan for the front of the bronk, and the rear is already lined and is getting a rubber liner as soon as i get time.

My bro works for an insulation CO here is SoCal and hooked me up with some rubber sound deadener insulation. We layed it under the carpet in the bed of the truck and it works quite well. The flowmaster sounds nice and 'smooth' from inside instead of loud and obtrusive. I would have done the rest of the truck if he hadn't used the rest on his car.
