I just recently bought a 93' Bronco 5-speed. The clutch feels awful, and just barely grabs at the top. I'd like your guys input on any tips or tricks that there may be to make this project a smooth one. I've done a few clutch replacements in the past, however not on a Bronco or F150. I appreciate the help!

Do you have a transmission Jack?

Yes - keep the trans and transfer case together
No - Separate the transfer case and trans.

also the top bell housing bolts may be easier to get if you climb on top of the engine and get them with a ratcheting box end wrench

also, this is the M-5OD right?

I think I've got the Mazda trans? I do have a trans jack. Roughly how long should this take? The few FWD clutches I've swapped in the past took a whole weekend...ugh:doh0715:

Well, how fast do you work?

since you have done them in the past, especially a FWD, you should get this done in a day.

im GUESSING, 1 person, 6 -8 hours? :shrug. you need to resurface the flywheel as well...

And you know, its not the hard part getting it all out, its getting it aligned properly that takes time! and frustration

It is stock suspension height, but with the 32" tires it's got a lot of ground clearance. Well, I feel much better knowing it's just a full one day project. Just didn't wanna lose a whole weekend like I have before with FWD cars. I appreciate the help guys. I'll let you know how it goes. O and one more thing, any recommendations on a clutch brand? In the past, I've used Exedy and Southbend...

There's lots of threads on this subject but do yourself a favor and
make yourself a set of these...

...those I made '79 and still going. I made another one that's 1/2"
shorter that I haven't tried out yet but I'm sure it'll be a winner. :)

7/16-14 (coarse thread) one 6" and one 5+1/2"

Here's one in action...

...the tansmission slid right up to the engine's locating pins with
the push of a foot. No kidding. :)

Do it however you want to but you won't catch me doing them
from underneath ever again...

...the engine hoist came in handy for engine pulling too. ;)
And loading heavy stuff like windmill heads.

IMO that rear chain should have been behind the drain plug...

The 351w is well balanced and didn't -have- to have support.
But it won't hurt to put an 8 to 12 inch piece of 2x4 under the
oil pan and support it anyway. :) I use that and a bottle jack.
